About this tool
This ID photo tool replaces the background of a portrait with the standard red, blue or white used for official documents, saving you a trip to a photo studio. It runs a MediaPipe person-segmentation model in your browser to detect the boundary between subject and background and cut you out, keeping tricky details like hair edges and collars reasonably clean.
Privacy is the key point: the entire cutout and background swap happen locally on your device, and your photo is never uploaded to any server. ID photos carry identifiable facial data, and local processing means that data stays entirely in your hands and never travels across a third-party network.
How to use
- Upload or drag in a front-facing portrait; even lighting and a plain background give the cleanest cutout.
- Wait for the local AI model to segment the person (the first load may take a few seconds).
- Pick the target color — red, blue or white — and preview the swapped background live.
- Optionally choose a common ID size (such as one-inch or two-inch) to crop and lay out the photo.
- Click export to save the finished PNG to your device.
When to use it
- You need an ID photo with a required background color for a passport, visa, student or staff card.
- You only have a white-background photo but a registration system demands red or blue.
- You would rather not upload a photo containing your face to an online service.
- You need a clean, standard headshot quickly for a resume or onboarding form.
FAQ
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. The cutout AI runs locally in your browser, so the photo stays on your machine and is never uploaded.
Why are hair or edges sometimes not cut cleanly?
Automatic segmentation struggles with busy backgrounds or clothing that matches the background color. A photo with a plain, contrasting background and even lighting usually improves results a lot.
Can I print the result directly?
The export is a PNG image; once cropped to a standard size you can print it at a shop or kiosk. Always confirm the pixel and size requirements of your specific use case.
