About this tool

This background remover erases the background by color. The classic use is lifting a scanned or photographed signature, stamp or logo off its white background into a clean transparent PNG. Click the color to remove with the eyedropper, then tune tolerance and feathering to get rid of a solid background cleanly without a harsh white fringe.

Unlike AI subject cut-out, it works on color similarity — so it’s best for images with a white or solid background and a clearly distinct subject: signatures, stamps, simple logos, line art. Everything runs locally in your browser, so sensitive images like signatures and seals never reach a server.

How to use

  1. Upload an image with a white or solid background (signature, stamp, logo, etc.).
  2. Use the eyedropper to click the background color you want to remove.
  3. Raise or lower the tolerance to control how much of that color is erased; adjust feathering for softer edges.
  4. Once the background is transparent, export and download a transparent PNG.

When to use it

  • Turning a scanned handwritten signature into a transparent image to overlay on contracts or PDFs.
  • Extracting a company seal or stamp as a transparent PNG for e-stamping.
  • De-backgrounding a white-background logo so it sits cleanly on dark or busy backgrounds.
  • Cleaning up line art or sketches — dropping the paper color and keeping only the strokes.

FAQ

Can it cut out people or complex photos?

It removes background by color, best for signatures, stamps, logos and line art on a white or solid background. Photos of people or busy/gradient backgrounds are hard to separate by color, so use an AI cut-out tool for those.

What if there’s a white fringe on the edges?

Raise the tolerance a bit to clear residual light edges, then add some feathering for a smoother transition. Too much tolerance eats into the subject — adjust while watching the preview.

What format is the exported transparent image?

It exports as PNG with an alpha channel, ready to overlay on contracts, PDFs or other images. Don’t convert it to JPG afterwards or the transparency turns white.
