About this tool

This tool converts a numeric amount into the formal Chinese capital (uppercase) form — for example 1234.56 becomes 壹仟贰佰叁拾肆元伍角陆分. Chinese capital numerals (壹, 贰, 叁, 肆 …) are deliberately complex characters that are hard to alter, which is why they are the required style on invoices, cheques, contracts and reimbursement forms.

Writing these by hand is error-prone: handling zeros, adding the trailing 整 ("exact"), and dealing with the jiao/fen places all follow specific rules. This tool applies the accounting conventions automatically and gives a standard result down to fen, with one-click copy. Conversion happens locally in your browser — the amount is never uploaded.

How to use

  1. Type the numeric amount, e.g. 8050.40.
  2. The tool instantly outputs the matching Chinese capital amount.
  3. Check the handling of zeros, jiao/fen and the trailing 整.
  4. Click copy and paste it into an invoice, cheque or accounting form.

When to use it

  • Fill in the capital-amount field when issuing an invoice.
  • Write the amount in words on cheques and bank drafts.
  • Draft amount clauses in contracts and IOUs.
  • Record amounts properly on reimbursement forms and receipts.

FAQ

When is the trailing 整 added?

When the amount ends at the yuan place with no jiao or fen, add 整 (or 正) at the end, e.g. 伍佰元整. If there are fen, 整 is omitted, e.g. 伍佰元零伍分. The tool follows these unit rules for you.

How are zeros in the middle handled?

Consecutive interior zeros are read as a single 零, e.g. 1005 becomes 壹仟零伍元; trailing zeros are generally not voiced. The tool applies these accounting rules automatically.

How large an amount and how many decimals are supported?

It supports integer parts up to very large magnitudes (hundreds of millions and beyond) and decimals down to jiao (1 place) and fen (2 places). Digits smaller than fen are dropped, since fen is the smallest RMB unit.
