About this tool
This text-to-speech (TTS) tool reads your typed text aloud. It uses the browser's built-in speech synthesis engine (the Web Speech API), so there is no voice pack to install and no third-party cloud service involved — Chinese, English and many other languages are supported.
You can pick different voices, adjust the speaking rate and pitch, proofread an article by ear, or use it for listening to text, accessibility, and language learning. Because it runs locally, the text you enter is not uploaded.
How to use
- Paste or type the text you want read aloud into the input box.
- Choose a voice from the list (voices come from your system / browser).
- Adjust the speaking rate and pitch to a comfortable level.
- Click Speak to start playback; pause or stop at any time.
When to use it
- Proofread your own writing by ear — awkward sentences are easier to catch.
- Listen to text like an audiobook and rest your eyes.
- Hear standard pronunciation and shadow it while learning a language.
- Provide accessible read-aloud for people with low vision or reading difficulties.
FAQ
Why is the voice list empty or short?
Available voices are provided by your operating system and browser. Switching browsers or installing more system voice packs will add to the list.
Does it use data or upload my text?
No. Synthesis happens locally and the text is not sent to any server.
Can I save it as an audio file?
The browser speech API is built for live playback, so directly exporting an audio file is limited; for an audio file, use a dedicated recording method.
