About this tool

This video-to-GIF tool turns the part of a video you want into an animated GIF. Drag the start/end sliders to pick a range, set the frame rate and width, and the tool samples frames and builds a looping GIF — great for memes, chat clips, web demos, or a lightweight screen capture.

Everything runs locally in your browser; the video is never uploaded. GIFs suit short looping motion, so a few-second clip at a moderate frame rate balances clarity against file size.

How to use

  1. Click or drag to select a video file.
  2. Drag the Start and End sliders to pick the time range to convert.
  3. Set the frame rate (higher is smoother but larger) and output width.
  4. Click Generate GIF, then preview and download when done.

When to use it

  • Make a meme or chat GIF from a few great seconds of a video.
  • Create a lightweight demo GIF for a web page or document.
  • Turn a short screen capture into a GIF that needs no player.
  • Clip a looping GIF from a movie or game moment.

FAQ

Why is the GIF file fairly large?

GIF stores every frame, so longer clips, higher frame rates and larger sizes mean bigger files. Shortening the clip, lowering the frame rate or reducing the width all shrink it noticeably.

Is my video uploaded?

No. Frame sampling and encoding happen locally in your browser; the video never leaves your device.

Which video formats are supported?

It depends on what your browser can play; common MP4 and WebM usually work. If a file won’t load, convert it to MP4 first.
